Spanish Adventures is a company that I formed to assist people who wish to trek in Spain and Portugal. It is helping me fulfill my dream of working in the outdoors doing what I like best and helping people enjoy themselves and experience the cuture and ambiance of my chosen country. As you will read below, I am professionally trained for this task. Originally from Australia, and having spent a number of years in the UK going to school, I moved to Spain in 2002 to open Spanish Adventures.
Qualifications and Experience
In July 2003 I successfully completed the Summer Mountain Leaders Award in the UK (see the UK Mountain Leader Training Board page) at Plas y Brenin National Mountain Centre in North Wales, UK. This qualification enables me to lead walking groups below the snow line in various countries in Europe, including Spain. As part of that award I completed an Outdoor Emergency First Aid Course at Mediact. I have been cycling and trekking in Spain since 1990 and living here since December, 2002. I have led several groups in various parts of Spain and elsewhere in the world, see the list of my main trekking experience.
I occasionally lead walking groups for various companies offering high quality group tours in Andorra, Mallorca, Andalucia (including the Alpujaras and Sierra Nevada) , Catalonia, Picos de Europa, the Pyrenees, and along the Camino de Santiago.
I can arrange transport (including bicycles) to the Picos de Europa and the Camino de Santiago from the ferry ports of Santander and Bilbao, or the airports at Bilbao, Oviedo ( Asturias), Santander, Valladolid, Santiago, Vitoria (Gasteiz), Biarritz, or Madrid.Please choose one of the links on the lefthand side of this page to see more details of the areas of Spain where I work.
